With so many multimedia devices in the home nowadays, its useful to be able to interlink them all and access them wherever you are.
TwonkyMedia Server is the Mac version of TwonkyMedia Manager for Windows and aims to help you do this. TwonkyMedia Server allows you to share your media on compatible devices throughout your home. So for example, if you want to send a photo slideshow to your digital photo frame, you can do so in a click. Or, maybe you want to watch videos on YouTube on your TV - no problem, TwonkyMedia Server can send it to your device.
The idea is that no matter what you want to access, where it's stored or where you are in your home, TwonkyMedia Server will allow you to view it.
TwonkyMedia Server is a purely web-based application so as soon as it is installed, it will automatically open a tab in your browser. It's very impressive how it instantly catalogs everything on your Mac, allowing you to view and access files as if you were using them on your hard drive.
Setting it up is also a pleasure. You can simply click on "First Steps" down the left hand side menu and you're taken through the process including an option to select an "iPod" style navigational structure. Note one drawback however - you can't play DRM protected music - such as that purchased via iTunes - on TwonkyMedia Server.
